Hi there.  Fancy meeting you here. me I’m Karen, an interior designer and DIY addict living just outside the beautiful city of Boston, Massachusetts.  My ramblings here mostly revolve around my DIY/design adventures, although sometimes I veer a bit of course.  I love playing with power tools and getting my hands dirty, and finding the perfect piece of furniture at the perfect price makes me do my happy dance (although I’ll usually spare you that part).  Since January 2010, I’ve been working to add history and personality back into my 112 year old home that I share with this crazy cast of characters:

aka Brian

My partner in crime.  We’ve been together almost a decade and married since ’09.  He’s a wannabe iron chef who’s better with a knife than with a hammer.  Despite his ADD when it comes to design, he kindly and willingly puts up with my creative explosions and DIY obsessions.

aka The Queen aka Babykit

She’s a 3 year old tortie (calico without the white) who we rescued from a shelter on our 1 year anniversary.  She has discovered how to weaponize cuteness and subsequently rules the roost.  She’s the cutest, cuddliest diva you’ve ever met.

aka Bear aka Bearcat

We think he’s somewhere between 3-5 years old, but since he was rescued from a cat hoarder, we can’t be sure.  He’s a lovable oaf who always wants to be a part of the action, but is still skiddish of most people.  He loves assisting with my DIY projects, usually by sitting on them.

Thanks for visiting!  Take off your coat and stay a while.  If you’re lucky I might even make cookies.

Hi, Karen. My name is Nadezhda. I live in Kiev, Ukraine. I found your blog thanks to postaday2011 tag and I am so happy about it. No, I don’t have any relation to designing but your blog is so inspiring, so kindling. I just can’t wait to see how it all will turn out!

I stumbled across your blog while looking for advice about updating closets. Looking at your photos, I keep thinking . . . their house looks just like mine . . . but much more complete! Fun to see that your house is also in the Boston area. I moved into my 1900 house a few months back . . . and look forward to gathering more ideas from you . . . hope you don’t mind!

    Hi Karen!
I passed on a Liebster Award to you. It’s given to bloggers with fewer than 200 followers (some of you have a few more). They, then, pass it along to 11 other bloggers. It’s a way for your readers to get to know you and for bloggers to connect with other bloggers. 🙂 Come check out the link on my site and share the love with others and pick up your award!:

    Congrats! Mary
